September 13 MTNA-Warner Brothers (ASMTA State Level) Composition Contest ONLINE entry only Deadline - midnight 9/13/11 Fee: $50/$70/$100 (by Level)
September 25 3:00 p.m. MMTL Weekend Student Concert Series Location:  Elmcroft of Maumelle
October 9 We're going to the Symphony! Arrive at Robinson Auditorium no later than 2:30 p.m. Program, conducted by Maestro Philip Mann, includes the music of John Williams.  Concert goers are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters!  (optional)
October 15 10:00 a.m. Composition Master Class with American Composer, John Steinmetz.  Several of our students will have the opportunity to perform their compositions.  All are encouraged to attend!

Location:  UALR Fine Arts Building

On Sunday the 16th at 3:00 p.m. plan to attend the regional premiere of one of Mr. Steinmetz's works.

October 31 - November 4 GROUP LESSON WEEK Performance Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday this week at 3:30, 4:30, and 6:30.  I will be contacting you with a specific schedule for your pianist.

GROUP LESSON WEEK

NOTE that posters for our Celebration of Creativity Recital are due this week.  Posters may be created using any medium on full-sized poster paper.  Write the title of Mrs. Klose's piece that inspired you and your name on the front of the poster.

Performance classes in preparation for our recital with Carol Klose!
May 5 10:00 a.m. - approximately 1:00 p.m.  Studio Recital:  CELEBRATION OF CREATIVITY featuring our adopted composer of the year, Carol Klose.  Students will perform either a piece by Carol Klose or an original composition. Includes Student Recital, A short session by our composer, and a Luncheon/Autograph Party

May 14-18 Parent Conferences (30 minute conferences during your pianists' regularly scheduled lesson times)
May 28 - June 8 End of semester break - no lessons
June 2 ASMTA State Auditions (morning) (at ASMTA state convention). Students who were chosen as winners in their levels at ASMTA Auditions in March compete for state honors. Winners are expected to perform on the Winners Recital at 2:00 p.m. State composition winners also perform on the 2:00 recital. Location:  ASU in Jonesboro
